Find Your Healthy Weight: 3 Ways to Lower Your BMI
Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from your weight and your height. A high BMI can indicate a high amount of body fat. If you are overweight or obese, you’re at higher risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure. When you know your BMI, you can make changes to lower your number.
Figure out your Body Mass Index by finding your height and weight on the BMI chart. If your BMI is over 25, you could improve your health by lowering your BMI.
Here are 3 ways to lower your BMI:
- Eat healthy foods to maintain a healthy weight. Snack on fresh fruits and vegetables or have yogurt without added sugar for dessert.
- Get active every day. Take a brisk walk after dinner or go for a bike ride with your kids.
- Step on the scale regularly. If you notice your weight going up, add more exercise and healthy foods to your routine.
