FamilyCare Health Receives Corporate Philanthropy Award
PORTLAND, Ore. (October 12, 2017) – FamilyCare Health is being recognized as one of Portland’s most philanthropic companies by the Portland Business Journal. FamilyCare received the recognition at the business journal’s annual Corporate Philanthropy luncheon on October 11th.
As a fully integrated health company and Coordinated Care Organization, FamilyCare recognizes the importance of investing in organizations and partnerships that address community determinants of health such as housing, food insecurity, education and access to services.
"To have a healthy community we need to have adequate infrastructure and programs to address the community determinants of health," said Jeff Heatherington, president and CEO of FamilyCare Health. "That’s why FamilyCare’s community benefit program and the Heatherington Foundation for Innovation and Education in Healthcare gave over $11 million in support to Oregon and Southwest Washington charities in 2015 and 2016."
FamilyCare and the Heatherington Foundation’s grants included $3 million to support Legacy’s Unity Center for Behavioral Health, $2 million to Asian Health & Services Center for its new primary and behavioral healthcare facility, and $1 million to Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare for the construction of the Garlington Health & Wellness Center.
