Connecting People to Care
For more than 30 years, FamilyCare Health provided patient-centered health care to Oregonians. FamilyCare Health was the first health plan in Oregon to integrate models of physical and mental health and the first Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) in the tri‐county area certified by the Oregon Health Authority. As a CCO, we provided integrated and coordinated patient-centered care to approximately 115,000 Oregonians covered by OHP/Medicaid in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties plus parts of Marion County.
Keeping Communities Healthy
FamilyCare Health opens doors to affordable, high-quality medical care. Our provider network includes primary care providers, specialists, mental health professionals, dentists, and hospital facilities in areas that are convenient for our members.
We believe the relationship between patient and primary care provider is the foundation for creating a healthcare system that promotes caring, efficiency, and community well-being. We encourage each member to regularly visit their primary care provider and get any health screenings they need. When extra care is recommended, such as a visit to a specialist, we are here to help our members with finding a provider and making an appointment. Worried about getting to a medical appointment? We offer free rides to OHP members through our ride partner, Ride To Care.
Health Happens Everywhere
FamilyCare Health knows that health also happens outside of the doctor’s office. That’s why we offer our members help with lifestyle choices like quitting smoking and learning how to eat healthier. We also offer special programs and services for children, pregnant women, and people with behavioral health issues.
Caring for our Neighbors
FamilyCare Health is here for the whole community. We also partner with local organizations to make sure routine health services like flu shots are available to everyone. We run a Community Benefit Program and sponsor local events to help fund projects and organizations with similar health-minded objectives, making significant investments in community programs. And we care for our employees. For the sixth year in a row, FamilyCare Health has been ranked as a Top Workplace in Oregon by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Osteopathic Philosophy of Care
From the beginning, osteopathic medicine has been a key element of FamilyCare Health’s philosophy of care. Our articles of incorporation were signed by CEO and President Jeff Heatherington and two osteopathic physicians, Dr. Arthur O. Rott and Dr. Carl M. Ericson. Osteopathic medicine is a whole-person approach that emphasizes the body's interconnectedness and promotes preventive care and wellness.
FamilyCare Health's commitment to osteopathic medicine is also reflected in its support of osteopathic medical education. While serving as director of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon, Jeff Heatherington helped bring together Western University of Health Sciences and Samaritan Health Services to build the COMP-Northwest campus in Lebanon, Oregon. In 2012, FamilyCare Health contributed $2 million to COMP-Northwest to create an endowed scholarship named for our first medical director, Dr. Arthur O. Rott, DO, and Dr. J. Scott Heatherington, Jeff Heatherington’s father and a central figure in Oregon's osteopathic medical profession.
