At FamilyCare, we believe preventative care is essential in helping children and teens stay well and maintain a healthy lifestyle. FamilyCare coverage provides well child exams for babies, children, and teens, including immunizations such as flu and pneumonia vaccines. As children become teens, they begin to take on more responsibility for their own health. It is important for all children to learn about their health and see their provider every year. Teenagers still need recommended vaccinations. We have experienced pediatricians located throughout our coverage area.
FamilyCare is proud to be Oregon’s “family health plan,” serving 50% children through our Medicaid program. We provide an extensive network of pediatricians and primary care providers throughout our service area who are dedicated to preventative care and helping our youngest members stay well and maintain healthy lives. We offer a comprehensive array of health care services for our children, which emphasizes well-child check-ups, early childhood care, immunizations, developmental screenings, and health maintenance. As an incentive for improving healthy lifestyles in children and families, we recently began providing family passes to Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD).
FamilyCare works closely with our entire network of pediatric clinics to provide support and coordination for our members, including children in foster care placement, children with disabilities, and children who have acute conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hemophilia, and other chronic conditions that require immediate care and coordination. While we encourage establishing a primary care provider for your child, we provide education for children seen in the emergency room and follow-up after a child has been admitted to the hospital.
Your child’s health is important to us. Please contact your child’s health care provider to schedule well-child checkups and immunizations when your child is not sick. If your child is new to FamilyCare, please schedule a health check-up within 90 days with one of our pediatricians or primary care providers. For newborn babies, please contact your baby’s health care provider as soon as possible after birth to schedule your baby’s first visit.
